Making the decision to put your pet to sleep is never easy. Medical and physical issues, pain and suffering as well as your own day to day observations and personal feelings concerning quality of life all play an important role.
When the time has come, euthanasia within the familiar surroundings and comfort of your own home, embraced by the love of those who cherish them, is the kindest final gift you can give your dog or cat.
I have been performing in home pet euthanasia for more than 30 years. The process usually begins with a telephone consultation during which we discuss your pet's current condition and quality of life. Any questions or concerns you may have will be explored and addressed.
My goal is to provide a quiet, unhurried, peaceful experience for all those involved. I am very flexible with regard to scheduling the home visit so that all who wish to be present can do so. The process itself is twofold:
I will first administer an intramuscular injection of a very strong sedative that will allow your pet to fall into a deep sleep within a few minutes. This can be done wherever your pet is currently resting and comfortable. For smaller animals, I often do this in the owner's lap, on the couch or wherever else you feel is appropriate. As your pet gently falls asleep, many use this time for last goodbyes.
Then, when your dog or cat is totally unconscious and when you are ready and only when you are ready, I will compassionately administer the euthanasia solution that will put your pet at peace.
While some choose home burial, I am also able to provide a variety of cremation services for those who so desire. I believe you will find my fees for all these services to be very fair, but as they vary with regard to the size of your pet and the options requested, it is best to call so we can discuss these matters together. - Dr. G.
